What's New at GLSPS

Now available the new guide to North Shore Shipwrecks by author Steve Daniel

• On April 26 - 27 GLSPS joined LSMMA and WUAA in a Meteor Preservation Project for the Superior Museums.
• On April 23, 2008 the Schooner Moonlight was unanimously approved for inclusion in the Wisconsin Registry of Historic Places.  This is the final step preceding the listing on the National Register of Historic Places.  GLSPS worked with Keith Meverden and Tamara Thomsen of Wisconsin Historic Society SHPO and Brendon Baillod to complete this work.  This will be the third successful nomination for GLSPS in as many years.
   
• On Feb 13, 2008 the Marquette was unanimously voted to the National Register of Historic Places .  This is the second successful nomination for GLSPS.
• It is now official.  After unanimously passing the Minnesota State Review Board the recently discovered shipwreck Benjamin Noble has now been listed by the NPS on the National Register of Historic Places. 
• GLSPS Documentation Group completed their first successful weekend project on the May Flower documentation on Sept 15.
• GLSPS wins grant to document shipwrecks Robert Wallace and May Flower for submission to the National Register.  Our thanks to Minnesota Lake Superior Coastal Program, MnDNR, and NOAA.
• The Preservation was launched at Spirit Lake Marina in Duluth and is up and running and being used for GLSPS projects. To see its evolution click here.
• GLSPS Joins Wisconsin Historical Society to Put Back the Lucerne Chain Stop.
• GLSPS Documents Newly Found Mystery Shipwreck off Duluth Park Point .  For the story and view of the new shipwreck site click here.
