Jay Hanson from North Shore Scenic Cruises has helped the GLSPS on many projects. Jay has many years of experience as a Captain, dive shop owner, dive instructor and commercial diver.

Jay has taken a different path for the past few years and his scuba charters are no longer available. However, in 2012, Jay purchased the Wenonah which was previously used to transport people from Grand Portage, MN to Isle Royale, MI. He now offers day cruises on the North Shore of Lake Superior and is docked at the Silver Bay, MN Marina.

For the last two years the Wenonah has been laid up in dry dock to replace the entire steel bottom of the boat in order to pass the Coast Guard Safety Inspection.
The Wenonah will hopefully be ready for service in 2020.

If you are interested in booking a 2 hour - day charter cruise on the North Shore of Lake Superior, please click on the logo above for information on joining him and his staff on a north shore day cruise.

HomeCruise RV Preservation to Silver Bay 2019

2019 R/V Preservation - Cruise to Silver Bay Marina

June 15 - 16, 2019

Every year the RV Preservation is cruised up the North Shore of Lake Superior to it's final summer destination and slip, at Silver Bay Marina.  The GLSPS Board of Directors and project leaders decided it would be best to keep the vessel centrally located to most of the projects scheduled for the season.

Because this is a two day event the GLSPS decided to make it a cruise that both the non diving and diving membership could enjoy.  Please click here to learn more about the event.

On the way up the north shore GLSPS diver volunteers install the shipwreck mooring buoys.  Moorings buoys are installed by the access committee and are there for boats to moor on while scuba diving the shipwrecks.

Please see "Wreck / Dive Sites" Page of the GLSPS website to check the dates which the shipwreck mooring buoy's are installed.

Please join us for this really adventurous cruise.  We have a great time cruising, diving, eating, comradeship and installing the shipwreck mooring buoys you receive from this kind of event.

Hope to see some new faces this year.
