Jay Hanson from Superior Scuba Charters and North Shore Scenic Cruises has helped the GLSPS on many projects. Jay has many years of experience as a Captain, dive shop owner, dive instructor and commercial diver.

Jay has taken a different path for the past few years and his scuba charters are no longer available. However, in 2012, Jay purchased the Wenonah which was previously used to transport people from Grand Portage, MN to Isle Royale, MI. He now offers day cruises on the North Shore of Lake Superior and is docked at the Silver Bay, MN Marina.

R/V Preservation Research Vessel


 The GLSPS Research Vessel the RV Preservation is now out of the water and is on land for winter layup.  Thank you to all that helped prepare her for the season in the spring, as operators / Captain during the season of projects, for the pull out process and winterizing her for the 2017 - 2018 winter.  The GLSPS Board of Directors really appreciate all your hard work!!

GLSPS membership is open to anyone interested in doing something to help preserve these amazing historic and recreational sites.

It's easy to become a member - annual dues are only $25. Your membership will entitle you to receive two newsletters per year, a GLSPS membership sticker, and an opportunity to participate in GLSPS sponsored projects. We are a non-profit 501.c3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

The Board of Directors Meeting is the first Tuesday of each month and are open to any member. The meetings provide an opportunity to meet other Society members, to get involved, and to provide input into the direction of the Society.
