Wisconsin Maritime Museum Tour by Cathy Green
Please join us as Cathy Green, the Executive Director for the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, leads us on a virtual tour of this gem of a museum in Manitowoc. For over 50 years, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum has been preserving and promoting the maritime heritage of the state through exhibits, programs and tours of the USS Cobia, a WWII, Gato-class submarine that represents the wartime efforts of Wisconsin, which built 28 of these vessels from 1941-1945. The museum is also the repository of ship and shipwreck artifacts from around the state, including the SS Christopher Columbus, Alexander McDougall's only passenger whaleback vessel. The tour will highlight items from the Columbus currently on display, but also delve into museum archives and collections for whaleback material not usually available to the public.

3D Shipwreck - Photogrammetry
J H Jones
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society may have been lacking activities in 2020 however, thanks to Ken Merryman and his circumnavigating adventures he was still able to continue with the 3D Photogrammetry Process we set up over the 2019/2020 winter.
Our GLSPS divers aboard the Heyboy have performed the necessary dives to shoot the images to create the 3D models.
We have added a few more 3D Shipwreck Images to the GLSPS 3D Photogrammetry Database. Please feel free to take a look at the database by clicking on the link to the 3D Shipwrecks Website.
Next year we hope to add more 3D images to the Database. We also hope to be able to launch the RV Preservation Research Vessel in 2021 to be able to perform the necessary dives on the North Shore of Lake Superior for the new database.
2020 Project Schedule Announcement
The COVID-19 Outbreak has affected many of the Nations scheduled Events.
Since there is not a play book written for this situation, all GLSPS diving projects and
programs that were scheduled on the RV Preservation are canceled!
The RV Preservation will not be available this year as it is not scheduled to be launched. This is
mainly because of the required "Social Distancing" which cannot be maintained on a boat.
There may be Fun and Training Dives added to the Schedule this year.
Shore dives are certainly a better way to Control the required "Social Distancing" which could be
in affect until September or longer.
Perhaps this year would be a great year to checkout your local Dive Shops to help support
them with the business they have lost by joining them for their scheduled shore dives.
Please check back to the GLSPS website to
review any changes to the
"2020 Projects Schedule"
Please contact the "Project Leader" if you have a question
or need additional information on a Program or Project

GLSPS Meetings Announcement
The COVID-19 Outbreak has effected most of us throughout the world. Social distancing, "Stay at Home Orders" from Local, State and Federal Governments and lack of communications among the masses have pushed us to seek out other means to communicate. With the advent of Online Meetings from "Zoom" "Google", "Microsoft" and others, it has bridged the gap between social visiting and conducting every day business.
Please join us for a “Zoom” Online Meeting. All of the GLSPS meetings are broadcasted and have been since February 2019. Please join us by logging in as a member. Then going to the “Events Calendar” Click on the date of the meeting and scroll down to the description of the meeting where you will find the link and any information you need for the "Zoom" Meeting. Click on the link and you will be prompted to download the most current and secure software for the GLSPS Zoom Meeting System. This will only happen once, (unless there’s a software update). Once the software is loaded it will automatically go to the Zoom meeting login, enter the password, (which is in the meeting information) push enter and you will see the participants and the meeting in progress. Your audio will be muted upon arrival to the meeting and you can toggle it on and off as needed. You will mostly be muted during the meeting. You can also toggle your video on and off during the GLSPS online meeting.
It's very simple to join us and stay in contact with the GLSPS Board of Directors, Staff and fellow members. The online meetings will help keep members up-to-date and informed about the organization's future, happenings, goals and ideals.
The GLSPS will continue to broadcast all meetings from now on, even after the COVID-19 Outbreak has been cleared.
Please do not hesitate to join us during any meeting we broadcast. Please check the Events Calendar for meeting availability. What better way to become more active as a GLSPS Member!
We hope to see you at the next online meeting!

2020 R/V Preservation Work Weekends
At the time of this Announcement the RV Preservation Work Weekends are in "Limited" status.
The 2020 summer summer is here. Unfortunately, and in light of the COVID-19 Outbreak, the GLSPS will not be launching the RV Preservation Research Vessel this year. The final decision was made at the June 2, 2020 Board of Directors Meeting.
The state has lifted the "Stay at Home Order" and we can move forward in using this year to catch up on Maintenance and other projects on the boat such as finishing the painting of the cabin area. Although we will still need to practice "Social Distancing".
Here is an event setup to volunteer helping perform a few tasks on the RV Preservation Research Vessel for 2020.
RV Preservation Maintenance Weekend - 7/11/2020
If anyone would you like to help with working on the R/V PRESERVATION during the summer, please contact Ken Knutson, Tim Pranke or Phil Kerber. We still have many wanted or needed items that need to be performed and since the boat will remain on land for the year, we can hopefully complete most of them by the end of the season.
A list has been prepared for volunteers to move forward throughout the summer. That said, we are limiting the amount of people working on the boat at the same time and same weekend. Either way, we can work out something if any of you are interested in helping.
Stay tuned for further information about the RV Preservation.
Have a great diving year and be safe.
